3 Pastrami Meals You Can Make At Home

Pastrami is a delicious smoked beef that can be used a variety of ways. Although most individuals purchase pastrami sandwiches at a deli, you can actually make tasty meals using this choice meat in your own home. Surprise your kids or that special someone in your life with one of the following meals.

Pastrami Hash and Eggs

Next time you have a lazy Saturday morning cook your crew a plate of pastrami hash and eggs. Start off pouring a tablespoon of coconut oil in your frying pan that has been heated on the medium heat setting. Next, cut up the pastrami into tiny cubes and toss them in the pan with some chopped onion, red pepper, and garlic. After about 5 to 7 minutes, add 3 cups of cooked potatoes that have been diced into cubes. Top the dish with salt and pepper and continue cooking until the potatoes have been heated through. In a separate pan, scramble four eggs. Place the eggs on top of the pastrami hash and you are ready to serve the meal to your family.

Pastrami Tacos

Marinate your pastrami meat a few hours ahead of time using a mesquite seasoning packet mixed with 1/4 cup of olive oil and 1/4 cup of water. Before cooking, you'll need to dice the pastrami. In another bowl prepare 1 cup of cabbage by chopping it and mixing it with 1 small diced onion, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of pepper, and 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar. Let it rest in the refrigerator for an hour. Set your oven to a low heat and place a few tortillas in there. On the stove, cook up your pastrami on medium heat. To serve spread a little Dijon mustard on the tortilla and then top with pastrami and cabbage mixture.

Chicken Cutlets With Pastrami

To serve a family of four for dinner, beat four boneless chicken breasts with a meat tenderizer. Combine 1 cup of olive oil, 3 diced garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt an 1/2 teaspoon of pepper together in a bowl. Brush this mixture over both sides of the chicken breasts and then coat them in Italian bread crumbs. Place on a non-stick baking sheet and top with a few slices of thin pastrami. Bake for 40 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Remove from the oven and add a thin layer of Swiss cheese. Return to the oven and cook another 5 minutes.

Whether you're making breakfast lunch or dinner, these meals are sure to satisfy any hunger. Of course, you may want to cook a little extra, as you're likely to get asked for a second helping. Find pastrami at your favorite supplier, such as from City Foods Inc/Bea's Best.
